Mayor and Council
The administration of elected officials for the Town of Sylvan Springs consists of the Mayor and Town Council. They are elected by popular vote every four years. Details on the current administration and key appointments are as follows:

Mayor Stevan H. Parsons
Growing up in Sylvan Springs, AL , Mayor Stevan H. Parsons understands and appreciates the strong foundations that have been laid by previous town leaders. It is these very foundations upon which he bases his visions for the future of Sylvan Springs. Through the leadership of Mayor Stev, the town has been able to build a Municipal Complex, attract more businesses and provide better services for the citizens of Sylvan Springs.
Mayor Stev has been active in the Jefferson County Mayors Association, having served as vice president and president of the association. He has served on the Jefferson County Metropolitan Planning Commission and currently serves on the Jefferson County 911 Board and the Emergency Management Agency. He truly believes that although we are a small town, we need to have a seat at the table informing others of issues that affect small towns.
Mayor Stev graduated from Hueytown High School in 1975. He graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. He is owner of two veterinary clinics. He and his wife Jennifer have two children and ten grandchildren, all of which live in Sylvan Springs, AL.
Mayor Stevan Parsons was first elected to serve as Mayor of the Town of Sylvan Springs in October 2004 and has served continually since.
Councilmember Brandi Helton – Councilmember Brandi Helton was elected to serve as Council member of the Town of Sylvan Springs. Her four year term began in November 2020. She has a teenage son who attends Bessemer Academy. Brandi’s grandfather, John Honeycutt, was the second Mayor of Sylvan Springs and was elected to serve October 1960-September 1964.
Councilmember Ricky Jones – Elected to Serve as Councilmember of the Town of Sylvan Springs in October 1976. Rickey and wife Vanice have one daughter and one grandson. He retired from U.S. Steel Corp. and has 40 years of service on the Sylvan Springs Town Council.
Councilmember Jason Reed – Council member Jason Reed was elected to serve as Council member of the Town of Sylvan Springs for a term of four years beginning November 2020. Jason and wife Melissa have three daughters. Jason graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and the University of North Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism. Jason is an active member of North Highlands Baptist Church where he serves as a Deacon as well as other roles in the church . He also serves as Vice President of the Oak Grove Memorial Park Youth Football and Cheer Association. He is IT Director for a small company based in Hoover.
Councilmember Mike Thompson – Elected to Serve as Councilmember of the Town of Sylvan Springs in October 2004. Mike and wife Wanda have two children and four grandchildren. He retired from AT&T. He has earned his Certified Municipal Official (CMO) designation from the Alabama League of Municipalities.
Councilmember Bill Toxey – Appointed to Serve as Councilmember of the Town of Sylvan Springs in October 2015. He and wife Sandra have one son. He is retired from Warrior Gulf Navigation.
